I’ve known Howard since 2017. I hunted mule deer in northern New Mexico that year, and hunted eastern New Mexico in 2021. Both hunts were first class.Howard will keep you in the woods hunting, and will give you 110% effort, and is a very honest outfitter. I highly recommend all your hunting adventures in New Mexico. Especially elk and mule deer.
It was a true blessing from the lord when my mule deer buck broke out of the thick cover. I had mere seconds to make a decision. Thankfully I had Howard to give a quick and accurate estimate of antler size, age and distance to the deer so I could make the shot. He provided his talent more than once to assess bucks quickly.
Howard’s relentless passion is to find a deer that will satisfy the hunters goals. In my case I was hoping for a unique buck with mass. This 179″ twelve pointer with in lines was perfect!
I was lucky enough to draw an elk tag in NM, and be able to hunt with GCO. I’ve been on 7 elk hunts in my life and killed 7 respectable bulls. When I showed up in camp this year I knew I had made a good choice. I not only made a life long friend I killed a 351 bull.

I’ve hunted with Howard on 3 occasions. Howard is a great guide and a better hunter.
Over the years he has learned to think like an elk. It shows in the way he hunts. On two of the hunts which were archery I had 4 or more opportunities to harvest a bull, but chose not to.One hunt with a muzzleloader, I had 2 opportunities at 330+ bulls and harvested a 350 bull. It was a great hunt I will remember for the rest of my life.
Every hunt I have been on I have seen numerous bulls because of Howards hard work. He scouts well before the season begins.
Throughout the 3 hunts, I have seen 8 bulls in the 360-370 class and possibly a 390.
I first met Howard in 2008-2009 when he was a guide in our first camp in Sonora Mexico. He ended up guiding my brother , and he got a real nice burro a couple days in.
After that trip I started applying in NM. The first northern hunt in NM we were able to help a friend get her first muley. A 200″ buck.
That hunt I wasn’t so lucky, but such is hunting. We had a couple more without success.
Things changed in 2016, my uncle and I drew an elk tag in Ruidoso. Howard knows the area and had done his homework. We both harvested big bulls on the opening day of our hunt.
My uncle and I drew a NM Oryx tag in 2018. I am looking foreward to the adventure that awaits.

Long before you show up to hunt he has been scouting the areas in preparation for the hunt.
He will give 110% everyday, the rest is up to you and the hunting Gods of course.
